TRAINING

Procedure Solutions Management, LLC provides several training courses that focus on improving Human Performance. The courses include but are not limited to, a focus on human performance tools for the worker, human factored procedure development, procedure upgrade readiness and management and operational/conservative decision making. We use our experience and knowledge of industry best practices and established standards to teach not just the best practices associated with these very important areas but also the why (theory) behind the practices and rules. This training methodology provides a complete understanding that will lead to the development of new or enhanced skills and organizational culture change. The courses may be offered at the industry site, or we can arrange a location.

Our current offerings include:

  • Technical Procedure Writing Certification Course - The course focuses on human-factored technical procedures, documents, and guidelines with a special focus on high-risk industries.
  • The course includes the writing of human-factored technical procedures as well as understanding the writer's role and responsibilities associated with regulation, program, process, and reviews. The material can be customized to include a discussion of your company's processes. It is presented in a combination classroom and computer lab setting for a dynamic learning experience. When the training is complete the students become part of a continuing learning network providing industry updates and support.
  • Procedure Upgrade Readiness and Management - Industries struggle with the development and execution of procedure upgrade projects. Although these projects are often brought on by challenges in human performance, safety and quality, it is a fact that they challenge business economics, management, and have a marginal success rate. This course examines industry benchmarking, lessons learned, best practices, and basic project management principles core to success. We provide the steps and tools for the development and execution of successful procedure upgrade projects.

Human Performance Tools for Workers - The course focuses on the Human Performance tools available that enhances a workers quality and consistency of work performed. This is done by providing the practical methods that can be used to anticipate, prevent, and catch errors. The tools provided during the training consist of two primary areas, in summary:

  • Essential Tools
  • The tools associated with this area consist of Situation Awareness, Self-Checking, Procedure Use and Adherence, Effective Communication, etc.
  • Provisional Human Performance Tools
  • The tools associated with this area consist of Prejob Briefing, Verification Practices, Flagging, Placekeeping, Turnover, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving etc.
  • Operational/Conservative Decision Making - The purpose of this workshop is to provide a set of industry proven principles and attributes that support a culture in which personnel systematically make operational/conservative decisions for safe and reliable plant operation. The workshop will also provide the participants methods for evaluating technical and operational decisions that affect plant operations, safety, reliability, and material condition.

PROCESS MANAGEMENT CONSULTING

Our experience has shown that an effective business process requires a combination of efficient programmatic controls and worker knowledge. Teaming with your staff, Procedure Solutions Management, LLC will map existing processes and identify where worker knowledge is required for proper process execution. Gaps will then be identified challenging process efficiency and worker knowledge. Identified gaps will then be evaluated to determine improvements to the business process. Based on the results of the evaluation performed, corrective measures/enhancements will be recommended in a risk-based manner to improve process efficiency and worker knowledge.
